Job Description:

SHINE is immediately seeking a Senior Engineering Technician. An exciting new role in a growing team dedicated to developing non-carrier added Lutetium-177 for cancer therapies.  This role will support the development of new separation technologies for the Therapeutics team.  This will include performing set-up and preparation tasks for experiments, supporting fabrication and installation of test equipment, surveying and decontaminating  radioactive materials from the medical isotope processes, working with the engineering team to implement shielding and waste solutions post-tests, supporting tests as directed by other engineering team members, and other tasks as required.  The role will require qualification in SHINE radiological worker training.  Additionally, the role will be responsible for working within license guidelines to ensure State requirements are met.  As required, this role will augment staff and lead best nuclear handling procedures in laboratory and research and development setting.  A background in nuclear facilities or radiological facilities is desired, along with a desire to step into multiple roles as needed.  This is a fast-paced product development cycle to help cure some of life-threatening forms of cancer and is looking for team members that fit well into this environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform set-up, preparation, and post-test clean-up activities in a medical isotope testing environment to ensure safe and effective design progression
  • Work within licensing requirements to ensure that all facility, process, and shipping processes are kept in compliance
  • Perform radiological surveys and decontamination processes for activated materials used in the development of medical isotope processes
  • Assist in performing experimentation and research and development work
  • Lead others in the safe handling of radioactive materials
  • Develop and participate in best practices in documentation for experimental design, execution and report writing
  • Execute test plans, having the primary responsibility for following protocols
  • Assists other projects and departments as required
  • Some travel may be required
  • Overtime may sometimes be necessary to complete required work assignment with little or no advance notice

Qualifications:

  • 2 year or 4 year degree in technical field, with preference for those with radiological or nuclear background, and preference for those with 8+ years experience in similar field
  • Experience of nuclear process equipment and instrumentation
  • Willingness to learn and understand new technology, instrumentation and technical processes
  • Ability to read from engineering drawings or schematics
  • Ability to follow written procedures and accurately record test data
  • Ability to work safely within an industrial and radiation environment
