Job Description:

This position is located at Warner Robins, Georgia and will support sustainment activities including advanced manufacturing/repair and corrosion technologies. The position will serve as a senior lab technician for the Additive Manufacturing (including operating the AM machines, part post processing such as 4-axis milling, heat treating and wire EDM); Cold Spray Repair; and/or Corrosion Laboratories. This includes setting up, operating and maintaining equipment; consumable and spare parts inventory and procurement, preparing and tracking material samples, and adhering to lab and equipment guidelines. The successful candidate will understand machining, additive manufacturing and metal repair techniques, as well as corrosion prevention and protection techniques, and provide guidance on design for manufacturability; equipment and part set up and part processing, as well as the ability to take experimental design guidance from professional engineers, set up the equipment, conduct the experiments and collect data as required with general or minimal supervision. The senior technician will be a focal for machining metal printed parts, advanced manufacturing and repair, and corrosion prevention/protection projects. The senior technician will also act as a mentor for junior technicians and engineers. The majority of work will support government customers, but some industry partners will be supported as well.

Minimum Qualifications

T3:
- Associates degree in technology field or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 8 years directly related technology experience (ie machining, heat treating, grinding, EDM, additive mfg, corrosion prevention and protection, coating application and removal)
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in working with engineers and engineering drawing, creating CAM and/or NC code for processing part/tool designs
- Demonstrated experience with operating numerical controlled equipment for complex geometries
- Working knowledge in Excel and other MS Office Suite programs
- Demonstrated experience with various CAD/CAM software packages (ie Solidworks and MasterCAM)
- Ability to create, read and interpret models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
- Demonstrated experience with operating coating equipment, additive manufacturing equipment, or other numerical control equipment
- Attention to detail
- Experience in interacting with design and manufacturing engineers and other technical personnel, providing guidance around design for manufacturability
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Effective verbal communication skills with team members at all levels
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Due to the nature of this position, US citizenship is required

T4:

- Minimum of 12 years of experience in working with engineers and engineering drawing, creating CAM and/or NC code for processing part/tool designs
- Demonstrated experience with operating numerical controlled equipment for complex geometries
- Working knowledge in Excel and other MS Office Suite programs
- Demonstrated experience with various CAD/CAM software packages (ie Solidworks and MasterCAM)
- Ability to create, read and interpret models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.

Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in additive manufacturing or conventional machining operations for metals
- Demonstrated experience with lab environments and adherence to lab policies & procedures
- Working knowledge of USAF organizational, intermediate, and depot corrosion and coating operations
- 1+ years of experience in heat treat operations
