Job Description:

The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a highly motivated and highly talented engineer to perform research in the area of applications development for advanced, and additive, manufacturing (AM) processes. Primary focus will be on operation-ready engineering solutions and component design utilizing advanced manufacturing techniques. Work will include mechanical design, design for AM (DFAM), reverse engineering, parameter development for new manufacturing processes, coupon and full-component design of experiments and mechanical testing, and machine design and innovation for manufacturing processes.

Minimum Qualifications
• A bachelor’s degree by December 31 2021 in engineering or physics from an accredited University.
• Proficiency in CAD and/or Matlab.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel software.
• The ability to be “hands-on” in the lab.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally.
• An ability to work well with others and motivate fellow team members.
• Ability to aid in program reporting and results documentation
• The skills to think critically and drive a project to competition with little or no supervision.
• The ability to properly document technical data generated by the assigned projects for preserving IP rights.
• Pursuant to government contract requirements, the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with additive manufacturing research
• Experience with the design for and operation of DLP Additive manufacturing systems
• Experience operating manufacturing equipment (CNC, Manual Machining, etc.) and welding.
• Experience in design, testing, and additive manufacturing of aerospace parts
• Experience in design and manufacture of mechanical systems
• Experience performing design of experiments (DOE’s) and statistical analysis
• Ability to lead, plan, and execute testing sub-tasks focused on part design and qualification for the aerospace industry.
• Leadership experience
• Ability to work in a team environment with engineers, and provide ideas and recommendations on improving testing and processes.
• Ability to either present, or participate as a reviewer, in technical and program reviews.
• Ability to hold a secret level security clearance
