Job Description:

This position is for an on-site technician working at the Systems Support Division of the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Materials and Manufacturing Directorate at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The position will support the technical area of aerospace adhesive bonding and advanced composites. This person is responsible for assisting technical staff with executing technical programs and maintaining laboratory facilities and equipment. Technical work will include fabrication of adhesively bonded and/or polymer matrix composite test specimens, curing materials, machining specimens, environmentally aging, performing material evaluation tests to identify material properties, and performing routine maintenance to laboratory equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Due to the nature of this position, U.S. Citizenship is required. The ability to obtain and maintain an active SECRET security clearance with access to Special Access Programs (SAP) will be required for continued employment in this position.
• A minimum of three years of directly related experience with DoD aircraft maintenance operations.
• Experience working with structural adhesives and polymer matrix composites, with an emphasis on aircraft repair.
• Experienced with handling and disposal requirements for chemicals and other hazardous materials.
• Experience performing mechanical property testing.
• Experienced with USAF tool control procedures and processes.
• Candidate must possess excellent organizational skills and have a proven history of working on multiple technical projects simultaneously.
• Excellent written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Currently holds a DoD SECRET Clearance or higher with investigation/reinvestigation within last six years.
• Associates degree or technically-related formalized training beyond high school diploma.
• Experience working with DoD platform technical orders and/or military specifications.
• Experience applying aerospace coatings such as adhesive bond primers, traditional primers and topcoats.
• Experience working on a U.S. Department of Defense installation.
• Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to successfully interact with a variety of personality types.
