Responsibilities of the Sr. Network Engineer

  • Provide investigation, diagnosis and resolution for software/hardware related problems. Escalate to outside vendors in accordance with escalation processes.

  • Design, architect, plan, implement and maintain private, public and hybrid cloud network solutions / connectivity, all aspects of the network infrastructure, supporting medium to large size offices

  • Responsible for assigned project workloads.

  • Working with Department Heads to ensure support needs are met from tickets. 

  • Adhering to standards and best practices as well as policies, workflow and processes that align with the business.

  • Ensure continued smooth operation of the global network infrastructure, working to minimize network downtime and the effects of downtime on users by scheduling needed maintenance or upgrades to provide minimal disruption of service to users.

  • Monitor and analyze network performance proactively to detect and resolve issues, and perform stringent network testing before implementing solutions

  • Support internal application groups by identifying and presenting network-impacting requirements to other members of the network engineering team

  • Works together with the IT Infrastructure Manager to determine best practices and general improvements for the overall Infrastructure team at Vroom.

  • Provide guidance, work direction, and information to other technical employees

  • Assist other Network Engineers on projects, performing various tasks as required

  • Articulate effectively complex ideas/networking concepts through a business len

  • Collaborate with the IT Ops Group and Infosec Group as needed to streamline processes and escalate important issues and transparency.

 

Keys to being successful

  • Deep knowledge of  IT troubleshooting procedures, AWS Platform, Palo Alto and Cisco Enterprise network.

  • Ability to collaborate with peers and coworkers, as well as other departments and end users. 

  • Excellent Communication skills

 

Required:

  • In-depth understanding/experience with the following protocols TCP/IP,OSPF, UDP, IPsec, DNS\DHCP, VLAN, WAN, LAN, 802.11ax

  • In-depth understanding/experience with VPN, Encryption, SD-WAN, AWS Transit Gateway, AWS Firewall, AWS AZ, Wi-FI, DMZ

  • Experience with Cloud based networking design and technology including, but not limited to, GCP/AWS and Terraform

  • In-depth understanding/experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools

  • In-depth understanding/experience in hybrid networking environments - connecting on-prem to cloud networks (AWS)

  • Advanced knowledge of the network operating systems. I.e Cisco R/S, Palo Alto, SD-WAN

  • Professional certification - CCNP, or similar level certification, is minimum required

  • Strong technical, analytical, best practice and troubleshooting skills with the ability to communicate next steps and risk mitigation

  • Ability to interact with individuals across the organization to a technical and non-technical audience and business stakeholders

  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of business units

  • Excellent knowledge of Ticket system software
