Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW

Performs infrastructure engineering by developing and reviewing contracts, studies, plans, estimates specifications associated with various municipal infrastructure projects; directs engineers in the preparation of plans, details, specifications and technical contracts; interprets plans and specifications and provides advice or guidance to engineers; investigates and analyzes infrastructure deficiencies and conducts field reconnaissance.

Reviews and interprets drainage/floodplain analyses and data; issues comments and recommendations; ensures City floodplain ordinance meets current National Flood Insurance Program requirements; investigates drainage complaints; provides appropriate technical information and participating as a member of the Development Services Team.

Reviews and interprets technical criteria and specifications, regulatory codes and City standards; provides technical and administrative advice and guidance pertaining to municipal/private infrastructure analysis; assists and responds to private property owners with engineering/infrastructure related inquiries; supervises tasks of Engineering division and reviews applications for driveway permits, blasting permits and construction wells.

  • Performs infrastructure engineering by developing and reviewing contracts, studies, plans, estimates specifications associated with various municipal infrastructure projects; directs engineers in the preparation of plans, details, specifications and technical contracts; interprets plans and specifications and provides advice or guidance to engineers; investigates and analyzes infrastructure deficiencies and conducts field reconnaissance.
  • Reviews and interprets drainage/floodplain analyses and data; issues comments and recommendations; ensures City floodplain ordinance meets current National Flood Insurance Program requirements; investigates drainage complaints; provides appropriate technical information and participating as a member of the Development Services Team.

  • Provide leadership and administrative direction on major public works activities, including, but not limited to, street maintenance, water and wastewater line maintenance, infrastructure improvements, and construction inspection.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSURE
 
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program from an accredited college or university
• Master’s degree may be substituted for 1 year of experience
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas
