Job Description:

The next addition to our Structural Engineering group must be a forward thinker, proactive communicator and a bridge design expert ready to help Fehr Graham grow and prosper. While the right person will provide bridge inspection and design services, he or she will actively participate in developing and growing the structural engineering team.

We are an innovative engineering and environmental consulting firm with offices in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin with plans to expand into more markets. Our next SE must be familiar with structural components such as bridges, retaining walls and IDOT design standards.


This position can be based out of any Fehr Graham office. Remote opportunities available.

Responsibilities

  • Provide structural engineering design services.
  • Perform specific and limited portions of broader assignments/projects.
  • Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results and follow standard office procedures.
  • Work directly with clients and project managers to deliver the highest quality possible, on time and on budget.
  • Work in a team environment and learn from fellow staff engineers, project engineers, environmental scientists and project managers.
  • Draft reports, prepare plans and assist with the preparation of specifications.
  • Work with clients to obtain data or share information.
  • Build and develop leadership skills that build autonomy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 7 to 11 years of work experience in structural design of steel and concrete structures.
  • Professional structural engineer (SE) licensed in Illinois or demonstrates the ability to secure.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials and code requirements.
  • Professional experience in developing design/construction plans.
  • Familiar with structural engineering software.
  • Department of Transportation structures experience (bridges and walls) preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
