Our Waterloo, IA manufacturing client is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer for their Fabrication Department. This employee is responsible for ensuring job processes are in compliance with OSHA, ISO-9000, GMT safety requirements, and ergonomic standards. Provides project leadership in the analysis of existing job processes, the development of new, more efficient job processes, and proving the viability of those recommendations. 
Job Qualifications:
  • Four (4) years Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5+) years experience in Manufacturing Engineering and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior work experience with fabrication and welding experience is a plus.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supports engineering functions with the appropriate department heads, to ensure successful completion of tasks including, but not limited to:
    • New product launch
    • Engineering Change Notice (ECN) and maintenance of process
    • Intercompany assets (equipment moves, etc.)
    • Capital Expenditures
    • Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) and maintenance of process
  • Provides overall project leadership towards the development of new job processes, and the review and maintenance of existing job processes, tooling, and fixtures by analyzing fixtures, machines, programs, and tooling. Communicates closely with other Fabrication Division engineering functions to maintain consistent job specifications and quoting requirements.
  • Position will also develop and recommend the most efficient plan layouts, and administer efficiency, productivity, and quality improvement projects by performing the following duties.
  • Evaluates and improves manufacturing methods and troubleshoots manufacturing problems.  Is responsible for leading the development and implementation of more efficient job processes that improve production efficiencies.
  • Analyzes and plans space requirements and workflow and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.  Incorporates ergonomic principles into all designs and layout of facility.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of Advance Quality Planning such as, but not limited to, work instruction documents, control plans, FMEAs, stop checks on production lines and set-up instructions.
 
  • Leads the implementation of and communicates process revisions to necessary personnel.  Tracks results and makes revisions to new process as needed to ensure new process is more efficient.
  • Administers and documents efficiency, productivity, and quality improvement projects.  Develops cost justifications and evaluates alternate methods to comply with customer requirements and organizational goals.
 
  • Uses key Monthly Key Performance Metrics, Fabrication Operations, to drive improvements.
  • Supports Performance Excellence projects as required.
  • Performs duties of a similar or related nature as assigned by management.
