Job Description:

This position performs the function of a research engineer focusing on advanced mechanical testing of laboratory specimens and subscale structural components to determine and understand mechanical behavior, deformation, failure, and fracture. Major duties include leading projects on determining the mechanical behavior of materials, particularly tensile, fatigue, and crack growth. Additional duties include writing technical reports detailing experimental procedures and mechanical behavior results.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering
• Three years of directly related experience using mechanical test equipment
• Experience documenting research findings in technical reports
• Experience using tools and equipment used in a materials testing facility
• Experience presenting technical information.
• Experience using MSOffice suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a national agency check (NAC).

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Mechanical or Materials
• Demonstrate experience with client relations and business development
• Demonstrated successful experience documenting research findings in technical reports
• Demonstrated successful experience using tools and equipment used in a materials testing facility
• Demonstrated knowledge of materials used in the aerospace industry
• Demonstrated successful experience in the setup and execution of standard mechanical test procedures to measure mechanical behavior and material properties
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to successfully supervise others
