We have an immediate need for a well-rounded professional to join a consulting engineering firm in Dearborn, Michigan as Paint Engineer.

Are you an Engineer working in the manufacturing industry to design and implement production systems used in automotive manufacturing, and other fast-paced markets, like painting, coating, and fluid handling equipment? Do you have a broad understanding of paint and coating systems and processes used in the automotive manufacturing industry, including safety standards, codes, and insurance requirements?  This is a full-time, direct-hire position, offering a generous salary, great benefits, and a stable, family-oriented working environment.

Requirements / Responsibilities for this Paint Engineer opportunity includes:

  • Bachelor or Master, level education in an engineering discipline. industrial engineering, mechanical engineer, or similar.
  •  Will be responsible for project delivery of paint system and storage systems designs (bulk tanks), fluid handling systems, waste treatment, and ventilation/process exhaust systems.
  • Must maintain a thorough understanding of applicable OSHA and NFPA Safety Codes and Standards.
  • Will research and maintain detailed knowledge of various automotive company safety codes, production-related insurance requirements, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes.
  • Meet with customers to discuss the scope of various projects, and lead the design development of appropriate paint and coating systems.
  • Equipment design scope will also include waste and ventilation systems, fluid handling, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Determine project timelines, and coordinate with others to develop estimates.
  • Research and plan for necessary equipment purchases and installation.
  • Will coordinate with other disciplines, like I&C, civil and structural engineers.
  • Perform fluid and hydraulic calculations for pipe losses, head pressures, friction, etc.
  • Research and calculation to determine equipment sizing and selection.
  • Review documents from 3rd party consultants when required.
  • Some travel to client sites, as needed, during system installation and start-up.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT is desired.

Full-time, permanent, direct-hire position.

Salary: $90,000 to $125,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
