Job Description:

The Associate Research Chemist performs research on jet fuel technology with emphasis on fuel testing techniques such as density, viscosity, dielectric constant, trace metals concentrations, etc, as well as chemical analysis techniques such as gas chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography. Develops quantitative techniques using chemical instrumentation for fuels, including analytical techniques for measuring components of interest in fuels. Coordinates fuel / additive blending, purchasing. Maintains chemical laboratory equipment and supplies. Reports results in written and spoken communication.

Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field. Must be comfortable working independently or as a team member. Good knowledge of organic (hydrocarbon) chemistry is essential. Experience working in a laboratory, including safe handling of chemicals, glassware, solvents, etc is required. Should be comfortable working with analytical equipment and processes. Should be organized and neat in laboratory spaces and notebooks. Competent with microsoft office software, especially Excel. Must be able to communicate research findings in a meaningful way to the fuels science community. Due to the nature of this position, U.S. Citizen required for this position

Preferred Qualifications
Graduate degree (MS) in Chemistry, or related field. One or more years experience working in a chemistry laboratory. Experience operating instruments and interpreting data for petroleum testing including fuel property measurement, distillation, trace metals measurement (ICP), chemical analysis equipment (GC, GC-MS, HPLC, HPLC-MS, FTIR) and similar instrumentation. Familiar with petroleum chemistry, processes and testing equipment.
