Job Description:

In this role, the Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer will:

  • Preparation and creation of detailed Plumbing & Fire Protection designs.
  • Provide leadership and management to a group of design engineers in performing Plumbing & Fire Protection system design and document production of small and large projects.
  • Participate in conceptual design for specific projects, when required.
  • Performs deliverables and products such as calculations, drawings, and specifications related to plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm and special systems.
  • Performs site inspections to determine compliance with construction documents and resolves design issues during the construction phase.
  • Maintain responsible control over all design activities pertaining to the project, including engineering, quality control, and code compliance.
  • Comply with project schedules, regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Represent CoolSys Energy Design in project meetings covering technical issues, including meetings with utilities, owners, contractors, construction subcontractors, and inspectors.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience within the MEP industry related to commercial and industrial building
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Other engineering disciplines are considered based on experience and skill-set.
  • Fire Protection Professional Engineering (PE) licensure. State of New Jersey licensure preferred.
  • AutoCAD/design experience. Revit knowledge a plus.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and work with outside resources to incorporate special hazard systems.
  • Design and specify fire suppression systems including wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, deluge, fire pumps, and storage tanks on a wide variety of project types.
  • Working knowledge of building codes and NFPA Standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, as well as demonstrated high quality technical writing skills and proficiency in English.
  • Team player with sound business ethics and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read plumbing and fire protection drawings well. Generate and review engineering deliverables in a timely manner.
  • MEP Project Management experience, a plus.
  • Willingness to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors, in order to develop a full understanding of building systems and their operation.

This position will require minimal travel to project sites. Our ideal candidate will reside local to the Mercer/Middlesex County area. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or relocation assistance.
