Job Description:

UDRI is seeking an entry level engineer to assist in component testing. Work comprises assisting senior test engineers in translating customer requirements into test procedures and parameters, designing test setups and fixtures, specifying control and data acquisition systems plus instrumentation, executing tests, troubleshooting, and data reduction and documentation. In addition to utilizing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical hardware, the candidate also may utilize software to assist in creating or modifying 3D solid models and drawings, electric circuit drawings, PLC and HMI programs for test controls, and LABView for data acquisition and post processing. These activities will involve the application of fundamental engineering principles to the experimental testing of aerospace systems and ground vehicles to improve performance, efficiency, durability, or affordability.

Minimum Qualifications

R1: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Combined Engineering is required. The candidate must have coursework and/or experience working with mechanical system testing including fixturing, load application and control, data acquisition, and instrumentation. The candidate must be proficient using the standard suite of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. The candidate must have strong verbal and interpersonal skills, and must be able to interact effectively with other engineers, as well as with current and potential customers. Due to the security requirements of this position, US citizenship is required. The candidate must be able to pass a National Agency Check.

R2: R1 minimum qualifications plus three years of relevant experience in mechanical system testing, and/or instrumentation and data acquisition for mechanical system testing.
 

Preferred Qualifications

R1: Knowledge of dynamic systems and control instrumentation. Experience using Python, MATLAB, or scripting language for data analysis. Experience using computer aided design (CAD) software for electrical drawings.

R2: R1 preferred qualifications plus: Experience with LABView. Experience with Altium Designer or AutoCAD Electrical. Experience with landing gear or aircraft structures/systems.
