Research Chemist / Synthetic Chemist

 The Position: We are looking for a laboratory research chemist and/or synthetic chemist with synthesis aptitude, the ability to analyze materials using a variety of characterization equipment, and the capability to write concise technical reports describing experimental results.

Requirements:
  • BS in chemistry or chemical engineering at a minimum.
  • Good laboratory and writing skills.
  • Some industrial experience with manufacturing equipment such as large-scale reactors, extruders, injection molders, filament winders or similar systems preferred.
  • Applicants must be US citizens to participate in many of NanoSonic’s programs.
  • Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or receive a religious or medical waiver as NanoSonic is subject to Executive Order 14042.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform chemistry laboratory procedures under the direction of senior chemists.
  • Fabricate material samples for analysis.
  • Work with multiple senior chemists and scientists on a variety of different projects.
  • Take concise and detailed laboratory notes based on experiments performed.
  • Write sections of reports describing laboratory procedures followed and results obtained.
The Location: NanoSonic is based in Pembroke, Virginia, close to Blacksburg, the home of Virginia Tech.
