Job Description:

About SimplePart:

SimplePart builds smart world-class eCommerce and Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) solutions for the world’s leading automakers. If you’ve bought an OEM car part online from a car dealer in the last decade, you likely used SimplePart’s technology. Our marketing, platform and data connects more than 9 million monthly online shoppers to the parts, accessories and service they need to keep their cars running.

SimplePart aspires to reflect the diverse audiences we serve, by building a community of rich and diverse perspectives, ideas, backgrounds and cultures. We're looking for fresh ideas from all areas.

We are and will always be a data and engineering company - our products handle information at massive scale, extending well beyond off-the-shelf eCommerce. Our teams are fast-paced, versatile and ready to take on technology's greatest challenges and make an impact on millions of users.

The Development Team:

On SimplePart’s Platform Development Team you have the chance to brainstorm, collaborate and grow alongside some of the best and brightest engineers in the world. We are all commonly focused on delivering the best possible product and experience to our customers. As a group, we rally together to create responsive and elegant web applications that scale to millions of users in dozens of countries and languages.

We are looking for active engagement, and an iterative mindset from everyone on the team. We’ll hit “perfect” not all at once, but by steadily iterating and learning over time. As a mature, stable platform, our primary focus is new development. In this, each member of the team has the ability to impact all aspects of the development process.

The Job:

As an EPC Engineer you will architect and manage data processing pipelines to ingest and normalize raw parts engineering data from our OEM partners. We receive and process terabytes of data each month - often in languages and formats unique to our space.

In this role you will use SSIS and traditional ETL tools not at all. Our projects are nearly all sophisticated scripted processes working at a low level with raw data.

Qualifications:

  • Be able to discuss in an interview setting how you would:
  • Create an import script in t-sql to scan a folder of EBCDIC files, and import them into SQL tables/fields. The header of each file contains a reference which allows you to know the field structure each file contains.
  • Create an import script in t-sql capable of scanning a folder of XML files (whose structure not known in advance), and importing those files into SQL tables with field structures created on the fly based on the XML file contents.

Every role on the team is a hands-on position, working in a hybrid agile (two week sprint) model building big, meaningful new technology at the cutting edge of digital commerce for some of the world’s biggest and most recognizable brands. Our stack is SQL (stored procedures), C# and Vue.js running a Component model on top of Webforms. We host on owned equipment (not cloud) and we do no outsourcing or offshore work of any kind. This is a fun, flexible, iterative team focused exclusively on our eCommerce and EPC platform. You will help us build crisp, clean, interactive experiences to make complex catalogs of millions of products accessible and easy to understand for most people.

It’s not just about deploying code. Community, learning, growth and professional development are key values of the team - and we make time to celebrate and reflect.

We offer our employees:

  • Company paid health/dental/vision/life/disability benefits
  • Competitive pay
  • Medical FSA
  • Dependent Care FSA with company contribution
  • 401k plan with company match
  • Maternity/Paternity leave
  • Tuition assistance
  • Flexible vacation
  • Vacation bonus
  • Commuter benefits
  • Friday lunches
  • Dog friendly office
