The Department of Transportation, Division of Transportation System Development, Northwest Region is currently seeking to fill 3 Civil Engineer Transportation Advanced positions. Details on the three vacancies are below and this recruitment may be used to fill similar future vacancies within the next 3-6 months.

Position Summary

 

The following Civil Engineering Transportation - Advanced positions are currently available:

Project Manager

This position functions as a Civil Engineer within the Project Development Section of a transportation region performing the highest degree of independent discretion and judgment on transportation improvement projects in both the construction and design phases.  Under general supervision, this position manages activities on multiple projects including those of a highly complex nature for continuity in both design and construction phases.
The position acts as a Project Manager in the design and construction of transportation improvement projects, conducting activities related to scoping, developing, monitoring, and reporting project schedules, budgets, issues and resources.  The Project Manager has primary responsibility for overall project quality.

Project Development QA Construction Engineer

This position functions as a member of the Project Controls team leading the construction Quality Assurance/Quality Control effort. You will also be responsible for performing highly responsible engineering administration work involving plan reviews, finals tracking and contract modification reviews. The responsibilities of this engineering position involve highly professional or technical judgments. The position assists the Region in the administration and evaluation of its transportation construction program, including quality control and assurance, analysis and resolution of claims and providing specialized expertise on construction techniques and problem solving.

Consultant Unit Project Manager

This position functions within the Project Development section of a Transportation Region and performs civil engineering and project management duties, utilizing the highest degree of independent discretion and judgment on transportation improvement projects.  Under general supervision, this position provides project engineering and project management duties on all phases of project delivery (from scoping through construction).  This position serves as a project manager on multiple transportation improvement projects within the Region, managing the resources, schedule, and budget.  This position may manage an individual phase or component of the delivery program for the Region (scoping, consultant resources, portfolio management, etc.) for the Region improvement program.

Salary Information

 

This position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $71,760 - $83,512, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

 

WisDOT does not sponsor work visas.  Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

Prior to any appointments for position(s) filled from this announcement, candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check which may include FBI fingerprinting.

Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process. For positions that do allow remote work flexibility, although residency in the State of WI is not required for permanent positions, it is not anticipated that working outside of WI or bordering cities will be allowed as positions may at times need to report to office locations in WI on short notice.

All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.

Qualifications

 

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if PE registration is from another state.
