SUMMARY

The manufacturing engineer should demonstrate the ability to design, implement, monitor and maintain manufacturing processes. Their aim is to achieve the most efficient, cost effective and high quality production possible.

Pivotal to the manufacturing process, the manufacturing engineer should have expertise in a range of different manufacturing technologies, computer, and management control systems. They apply such state-of-the art technology to meet increasingly competitive business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with engineering department activities and be able to carry out new procedures/programs.
  • Develop and maintain routing of operations for costing purposes and for the most effective method of part manufacture.
  • Have a broad knowledge of CNC equipment and programming knowledge.
  • Capable of programming CNC lathes and mills on multiple types of controllers.
  • Create and maintain a set of process prints specifying the dimensional requirements at each step in the process.
  • Completion of individual ECR’s as appointed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Provide cost of manufacturing estimates and technical assistance in quotation process when needed.
  • Recommend and design work holding to improve quality and efficiency of product.
  • Monitor profitability of existing jobs and offer ideas to help improve current processes.
  • Assist in specifying and selecting a variety of CNC and manual equipment for production and inspection.
  • Provide technical assistance to Production and trouble shoot problems.
  • Update plant layout as needed, design layouts for new equipment, creation of cells for common parts and improved throughput.

SUPERISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job requires no supervisory responsibilities.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

GibbsCAM or similar CAM software, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Windows, MS Excel, Word, Internet and E-Mail

EDUCATIONS and or EXPERIENCE

BS in Engineering required or technical degree with 5 years minimum CNC programing experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulation. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
