Description

The Maintenance Manager ensures consistency, compliance and high quality performance within the maintenance group. Maintains and improves the maintenance and reliability systems in the NSL Refinery. Responsible for the preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance to ensure full life cycle of plant assets while meeting all safety and environmental requirements using industry standards and practices.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides broad knowledge of maintenance and construction equipment and procedures for implementing safe, efficient work in the field that meets industry standards.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing maintenance policies, practices, procedures, and methods in a safe and efficient manner. The position oversees preventive maintenance activities, maintenance planning activities for routine maintenance and construction as well as turnarounds.
  • Provides direct supervision to the turnaround/maintenance planning supervisor, maintenance craft supervisors, rotating equipment reliability engineer, and I&E reliability engineer while using the performance management system to provide feedback and goal setting.
    Supports engineering, environmental and inspection activities by providing scaffolding, and other equipment as needed.
  • Monitors the maintenance budget, oversees contract maintenance forces and third party work and contracts.
  • Coordinates with Operations, Environmental and Engineering departments to prioritize plant daily needs with longer term activities such as capital projects and turnarounds
  • Participates in project design reviews to provide maintenance and constructability perspective
    Supports safety and environmental practices and policies consistent with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Reviews and audits contractor invoices and for contract adherence
  • Experienced in industry standard maintenance practices including reliability centered maintenance (RCM), predictive maintenance, computerized maintenance management systems (e.g.Maximo, SAP).
  • Supports continuous development and support of BWO’s Computerized Maintenance Management System. (Maximo) (Downtime, PM’s, Planned Maintenance, Training, etc.)
    Prioritizes major equipment problem areas and develop approaches to address identified situations and improve performance.
  • Reviews equipment specifications and standards for reliability improvement. Develops and tracks cost justifications for reliability improvement.
  • Oversee and direct preventive maintenance program and work on equipment.
  • Works closely with maintenance trainer and PM scheduler to develop and ensure appropriate training and PM procedures are followed.
  • Captures and balances work order and preventive maintenance by managing conflicting priorities, juggling competing priorities and providing needed maintenance services to all areas of the plant.
  • Manages warehouse personnel and inventories to maintain critical spares and consumables to support preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Provides warehouse support for project construction needs
  • Assist in the Mechanical Integrity program development and deployment as needed.
  • Assist in deployment of documentation system for all technical drawings and reliability documents.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide bonus and raise recommendations for non-union personnel.
  • Approve time cards and vacation requests for department.
  • Act as the designated back-up for Plant Manager when requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 7-10 years experience in maintenance (equipment and facilities) including a minimum of 5 years in a maintenance/reliability or technical leadership position.
  • Experienced in industry standard maintenance practices including reliability centered maintenance (RCM), predictive maintenance, computerized maintenance management systems (e.g.Maximo, SAP).
