Position Summary

This position is responsible for assisting employees across all levels and offices. You will support all aspects of the employee life cycle within Mackin, including attraction, recruitment, onboarding, training and development, performance, reward and recognition, succession, total compensation, benefits and leaves, policies and practices, employee relations, and separations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Duties
  • Assist with work in areas relating to each stage of the employee life-cycle process
  • Support annual and monthly HR processes – such as open enrollment, performance reviews, compensation adjustments, and monthly reports and invoicing
  • Conduct and lead exit interview meetings – communicate important exit information to employees, gather equipment, and provide all required documentation in advance of their last day
  • Conduct and lead recruiting, pre-hire, new hire, onboarding, and 30, 60, and 90 day follow-up communications and processes
  • Update and maintain all HR spreadsheets, personnel manual, and benefit binder
  • HR policies and procedures administration
  • Maintain responsibility for compliance with federal, state, and local legislations pertaining to all labor laws
  • Manage the functions and administration of employee leaves of absence, worker’s compensation process, and coordinate pay and benefits continuation with the payroll staff
  • Assist the Director in handling employee relations, counseling, and providing support to employees in various HR-related topics and resolve issues and conflicts
  • Manage HRM internal updates and HR maintenance to ensure processes and changes are complete in a timely and correct manner
  • Manage all ADA accommodation requests, following up with related documentation as needed, and serving as an information source for the employees
  • Assist the Director in providing support and guidance to Leadership and company employees when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise
  • Responsible for processes related to title, promotion, deferral, and personnel changes throughout the year
  • Create/prepare reports and analysis using the HRM, payroll, and benefit portals
  • Ensure first and final pays are prepared accurately and in accordance with state regulations
  • Assist with/conduct internal HR compliance audits
  • Assist with certificates of insurances and unemployment claims
  • Assist with all Mackin sponsored events and activities
  • Act as a source of information to all employees regarding HR activities and initiatives
  • Provide support and be a back-up to administration and/or payroll staff, as needed
Non-Essential Duties
  • Participate in professional Human Resources conferences
  • Contribute and serve on a Human Resources committee and/or subcommittee
  • Support internal departments with Human Resources and/or Administration tasks required to execute projects
  • Advise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, client relations, and/or inter-departmental relations
  • Contribute to the overall success of Mackin by supporting internal departments, providing exemplary service to clients, and striving to meet on-going initiatives to grow and develop the company
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
Education and/or Experience
Years of Experience:Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the Human Resources field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Education:Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree
Degree or Formal Training:Human Resources or Business Administration, or a related discipline (Human capital management (HCM) experience required)
License, Certificate or Registration:Although none are required, a SHRM-CP or PHR is a plus
