Job Description:

The Advanced Technology and Training Center – Middle Georgia (ATTC-MG) supports government clients in the development, prototyping, testing, qualification, and documentation of additive manufacturing (AM) parts, equipment, and processes for the AM laboratory as well as research and testing of corrosion control materials and processes for the Applied Corrosion Technologies (ACT) laboratory. This position will offer facility and program support to the AM and ACT teams. The ATTC-MG facility itself is the cornerstone of success, so ensuring it stays operational is vital. Due to the ATTC-MG mission, machines and equipment are constantly added, modified or moved, so the facility needs to be agile for changes. Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs are required to ensure all the personnel have a safe work environment and the labs and facility are following all local, state, and federal laws. This ensures that the labs are meeting and exceeding customer expectations by driving projects to completion safely and on schedule with high quality.

The position will be primarily be focused on facility support. The individual would be responsible for assisting with facility equipment and machine installations to include: installing pneumatic piping, PVC water piping, and support equipment assembly; troubleshoot equipment failures, perform minor facility repairs, and change out HVAC filters. Also, the individual would author and administer facility and equipment service contracts. Will also assist with Environment, Health, and Safety programs (EHS); will conduct facility and laboratory safety inspections such as general laboratory safety, emergency eye wash/showers, fume hood airflow validation, hazardous waste accumulation points, hazardous material inventory, and coordinate with outside contractors and building owner for required out of scope facility modifications, repairs and inspections.

Secondary duty will be in the Applied Corrosion Technologies laboratory as a Corrosion Lab Technician. Executing corrosion-related test plans and performing corrosion lab machine and equipment preventative and unscheduled maintenance. Daily, weekly or test plan specific project execution will include programing accelerated aging chambers, data collection, and utilizing lab instruments for measuring gloss, color, adhesion, viscosity, and utilization of 3D microscopes. The technician will apply coatings in the lab’s paint and powder coating booths, analytical testing and application of anodic electro-disposition coatings (E-Coat).

Minimum Qualifications
• Associates degree or equivalent military or civilian technical or on the job training
• 5 years min experience facilities or maintenance management experience
• 2 years min experience hands-on equipment maintenance/installation or facilities maintenance experience and creating technical work instructions in regulated environments
• Six months experience in a laboratory environment executing test plans, performing testing, and data collection
• Experience operating paint and powder coat booths, electro disposition coating baths, and accelerated aging chambers; ability to mix and apply coatings and analytical testing of electro-coat baths.
• Understanding and use of laboratory testing equipment such as gloss, color, viscosity, thermocouples, humidity chambers, ovens, and very low temperature freezers.
• Demonstrated experience in facility maintenance, safety and security
• Familiar with hazardous materials and hazardous waste management
• Skillset to use multimeter and interpret electrical drawing schematics
• Ability to create, read and interpret models, technical drawings, blueprints schematics, owner’s manuals, service manuals, and computer-generated reports
• Demonstrated experience following instructions, exercising sound judgment, and exhibiting good work habits in performance of assigned duties
• Demonstrated organization skills and attention to detail
• Able to perform duties with limited or no supervision
• Working knowledge in Excel and other MS Office Suite programs
• Due to the nature of this position, US Citizenship is required
• Valid driver’s license with low risk driving record

Preferred Qualifications
• Familiar with performing analytic testing, preventative maintenance and calibration of accelerated aging chambers and laboratory equipment
• Experience with aerospace corrosion control processes and protective materials
• EHS program experience
• Hazardous waste management experience
