Role: The Electrical Project Engineer shall provide leadership, direction, and functional support for the TTS Engineering team with emphasis on:
- Preliminary design, drawings, and cost estimating for RFQ and Proposal support;
- Provide process controls & electrical expertise in support of Customer inquiries;
- Process control engineering and electrical design for PLC Based Control System orders;
- Application engineering and supporting calculations for engineered equipment and system components;
- Detailed Electrical layout and connection drawing creation, review, and approval;
- Project cost tracking and control;
- Creation and maintenance of a project schedule for the execution and timely completion of all engineered orders, including addressing critical path issues;
- In process system build support for rapid resolution of issues;
- Factory testing and validation of system performance;
- Customer liaise for all technical project issues and Management of Change process;
- Provide technical and process improvement (through direct reporting) to management.
Duties & Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Creation and preparation of cost estimates and proposals;
- Creation, Review, and/or Approval of Electrical Panel fabrication drawings using AutoCAD and/or Solid Works design software;
- Review and/or Approval of conduit general arrangement, routing, fabrication details, component location, and instrumentation diagrams using AutoCAD and Solid Works design software;
- Review and ensure the project design and work packages fulfill all requirements of customer purchase order. Proactively identify and get clarification on any discrepancies;
- Generation of Project Bill of Materials including drawings, specifications, and documents for procurement of materials, equipment, and services;
- Prepare Sub-Vendor fabrication packages including Bill of Materials, Drawings, Testing Requirements, and any other required forms to complete work;
- Conduct interval and final checks on work-in-process;
- Perform project closeout, with focus on lessons learned;
- Site installation supervision, system commissioning, and startup.
Responsibilities include:
- Accuracy of financial estimates and budgets;
- Ensure projects are completed according to project plan, schedule, bills of materials, drawings, and specifications;
- Provide project coordination and in-process quality control
- Track and provide status of projects, including issues, during the design, fabrication, and installation phases.
Communications and CollaborationMust communicate effectively in both oral and written forms, to a variety of stakeholders. He/she will disseminate clear and concise technical reporting essential for the products/projects and its team members and stakeholders.
Fiscal ResponsibilitiesThe fiscal responsibilities of a Project Engineer include managing a budget for projects, and/or components of programs under the general direction of the Engineering Manager. He/She fulfills these duties drawing from a working knowledge of basic revenue models and cost-to-completion projections/budgets.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Working understanding of typical industrial codes, including: NEC, CE, CSA, ASME, AWS, ANSI, API, ISA, and OSHA;
- Electrical Process design including specification and selection of: Electrical and Control components, Low Voltage Power distribution (480 VAC/120 VAC) and process control instrumentation.
- Electrical design of packaged industrial systems including panel layout, wiring diagrams, and conduit selection/sizing.
- Motor Controls and VFD application, component selection and process layout.
- PLC logic generation, testing, and troubleshooting. A-B platform preferred.
- AutoCAD and Solid Works Electrical design and creation of connection drawings.
- Familiarity and ability to read/understand Piping and Instrument Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams, Electrical Schematics, and Control Logic Diagrams.
- Working experience with ISA specification data sheets for instruments, electrical, mechanical, and safety equipment.
- Working knowledge of gas turbine and generator controls and auxiliaries.
Miscellaneous • Estimated travel is >60%;
• Associates Degree and/ or Military training with desired experience preferred.
