Job Title: Electrical Engineer             
Reports to: Lead Electrical Engineer       
Date: August 2021

GENERAL PURPOSE
The Electrical Engineer will be engaged in all phases of product development, including requirement definition, product architecture, detailed design, verification, and qualification of Ophir’s military and commercial LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) systems. Potential projects include cutting edge research and development of new technologies, as well as design for production contracts. The small company atmosphere at Ophir presents many varied opportunities to contribute and expand your engineering skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in detailed analysis and design of digital and analog circuit board design.
• Collaboratively work on projects in both Production and Research & Development
• Implement and test new designs
• Engage with mechanical engineering on electronic packaging design
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

SUPERVISORY DUTIES
• None
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
• Digital chip-level communications including I2C, SPI and similar chip-level interfaces
• Analog circuits, including op-amps, discrete transistor circuits, analog/digital conversions
• FPGA design in either VHDL or Verilog
• Opto-electronics, including avalanche photodiodes
• Power supplies, linear and switching
• PCB design, including signal integrity. Mentor PADS experience a plus
• Good documentation skills
• Thermal management of electronics
• Design for compliance (EMC, Environmental)
• Standards used in the industry, such as RTCA (Commercial) and MIL-STD (Military)
• The ability to obtain a US Security Clearance is required, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
• BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field required.

• 0-8+ years of experience in related job

• Work is performed in an office environment or laboratory.
