Description

Supports safety assessments. Provides software technical expertise and participates in multi-disciplinary teams conducting audits and assessments for proposed and existing Army systems software architectures and programs.  Supports software requirements identification and development process by evaluating and assessing planning, design, development, production and operations for Army systems software architectures. Exercises the ability to recognize top-level functionality of a system through system descriptions and specifications, and to determine the design controls necessary to prevent hazardous conditions. 

Utilizes understanding of software development processes, software design, computer system design, systems safety analysis, requirements analysis and software independent validation and verification to meet customer requirements. Participates in government and developer meetings, witness testing at any level to assist in the assessment process and make recommendations regarding the fitness of software and software documentation status with respect to fitness for release and fielding.  Executes software systems analysis throughout the life cycle from initial requirements through design, implementation, testing, delivery, and support.  Utilizes written and oral communication skills and must be capable of successful daily interaction with customers.

 

Requirements

  • BS in a technical or scientific field
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience
  • Familiarity with Army safety standards (AR 700-142 and related)
  • Approximately 25% travel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance

Desired

  • MS in a technical or scientific field
  • Experience with Army Aviation systems evaluating airworthiness releases and engineering change proposals
  • Working knowledge of current operating systems and programming languages: C, C++, C#, Ada
  • Direct experience performing software safety, software development, and/or systems engineering efforts
  • Experience performing software safety and testing activities related to embedded software systems
  • Software static analysis tools experience
  • Knowledge of the integration and verification of large systems
  • CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) experience

 

Security clearance: U.S. citizenship required for this position.
