UDRI's Sustainment Technologies Transition division (STT) closely supports the AF Rapid Sustainment Office in technology transition of advanced manufacturing technologies. This position is located at UDRI's facility in Moraine, OH and will focus on understanding the material science issues of additive manufacturing, applied corrosion technologies, cold spray repair, and connecting material properties to part end-use needs. This will include material/process risk assessments and selection, troubleshooting, ideation for process improvement and/or material replacement, providing subject matter expertise on structure-property and process-property relationships, test plan development and execution, test data interpretation, and validation of part performance vs. end-use requirements. The position will be initially focused on polymer and composite additive manufacturing methods including fused filament fabrication, high speed extrusion, and selective laser sintering.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelors degree in relevant technical field.
2. Degree in chemical, polymer, materials, or other relevant engineering field
3. 8 years of directly related experience in polymer and/or polymer matrix composites (PMC) engineering
4. 8 years of directly related experience with polymer and/or PMC characterization and property development including method selection and/or development, data collection, analysis, and reporting
5. 8 years of experience performing Design of Experiments and statistical analysis
6. Experience qualifying aerospace products and processes
7. Demonstrated strong technical writing skills
8. Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills
9. Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication and presentation skills with coworkers and clients at all levels
10. Demonstrated successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team
11. Due to the nature of this position, US citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will
bring many of the following:

1. MS degree in chemical, polymer, materials, or other relevant engineering field
2. Experience with additive manufacturing and applying knowledge of structure-property and process-property relationships to additive manufacturing projects
3. More than 8 years of directly related experience in polymer and/or PMC engineering
4. More than 8 years of directly related experience with polymer and/or PMC characterization and property development including method selection and/or development, data collection, analysis, and reporting
5. Experience leading equipment specification, procurement, installation and/or implementation
6. Demonstrated self-motivation with ability to work with minimal supervision
7. Working knowledge of US Air Force policies and procedures
