Job Description:

Carrier Transicold is seeking a motivated System application Engineer to join the Syracuse, NY team.  This role will be a part of the Container Engineering group responsible for the design and development of Container refrigeration units.  This role requires demonstrated depth in refrigerated component and system design experience as well as system qualification, good understanding and use of performance simulation and dynamic modeling tools. The successful candidate will need to have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the equipment, software, electronic hardware, validation/reliability and manufacturing engineering disciplines
  • Proficient in at least one programming language and a working knowledge of MatLab/SimuLINK/Dynamic Modeling tools are required.
  • Benchmark, develop, validate, and implement advanced refrigeration technologies for Container units
  • Design and implement required experimental facilities; plan & supervise experiments and data acquisition
  • Plan and conduct experiments in the lab and using modeling tools
  • Create, refine and clarify requirements with internal and external customers 
  • Meet or exceed customer requirements as set forth in specifications

Education/Experience

  • BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years’ of related experience;
  • MA/MS in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years’ of related experience.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Mechanical and thermal design studies using numerical and CFD methods.
  • Familiarity with HVAC&R equipment and system
  •  Experience in product design and qualification especially for vapor compression systems (Compressor, heat exchanger and system testing and validation)
  • Experience on variable speed compressor, frequency drive development and system implementation highly preferred.
  • Proficient in modern experimental methods, instrumentation, and measurement systems
  • Proficient in one or two computer programming languages, MatLab and/or SimuLINK, Dynamic thermal related Modeling etc
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Self-directed and highly motivated
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to function in a global team environment
  • Posses analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
