Job Description:

Hughes Network Systems, an EchoStar Corporation company, has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Operations Engineering, to join their Operations Division at the manufacturing facility located in Gaithersburg, MD.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of Manufacturing/Test Engineering support including but not limited to; New product test development, process development, supporting downed equipment, improving fist pass yield and quality, driving material cost reduction and increased efficiency in all areas of manufacturing for satellite communication terminals and infrastructure.
  • Understanding of SMT and Box build manufacturing lines
  • Develop and execute continuous improvement efforts to improve efficiency and utilization of production lines
  • Ensure production capacity and processes meet business requirements.
  • Manage/Coach/Mentor/Support Manufacturing engineering, Process engineering and Test development personnel and direct towards achievement of all business and quality goals.
  • Act as leader and project manager for production test system development and Process development activities.
  • Interact with business representatives with a goal of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with all respective CE team counterparts.
  • Recognize and analyze production problems and support timely, practical solutions.
  • Lead design for manufacturing team and ensure manufacturability considerations are documented and driven into the concurrent engineering team and ultimately the product design.
  • Drive, publish and retain all tester certification exercises, testing improvement activities and manage/control all production test software.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering required.
  • 10+ years minimum of experience in manufacturing with relevant knowledge of SMT and Box Build operation.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Visionary individual with factory automation skills preferred.
  • Experience within a lean manufacturing environment with demonstrated results-oriented leadership leading to continuous cost, quality and productivity improvement.
  • Demonstrated success with Six-Sigma or other problem-solving methodologies in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with all levels of personnel from senior management to direct hourly labor team.
  • Demonstrated experience performing Capital Budget Analysis and tracking, Capacity analysis, and Return on Investment assessments.
  • Ability to concisely report technical information to all levels of executive management.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing processes; particularly SMT and electronics/hardware Assembly.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Production Test software and hardware Development processes.
  • Understanding of SAP, electrical schematics, Bill of materials, mechanical component specification and GD&T, Configuration management and factory floor control/Material flow.

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
