The Electrical Engineer will work closely with Strang’s integrated team of project engineers, architects and interior designers to develop plans and specifications for a variety of exciting project types. Working under the direction of a project manager and lead engineer, you will gain knowledge and experience in all phases of design from feasibility studies, probable cost estimates, calculations and overseeing the production of construction documents. This position can be located at either our Madison or Waukesha offices with flexibility to work remote.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and Document Electrical Power, Lighting, and Fire Alarm Systems using an integrated and collaborative approach alongside architects, interior designers, and engineers.
  • Produce electrical drawings and specifications for all phases of design, from pre-design to construction administration.
  • Assist with power calculations, equipment circuiting, lighting illuminance calculations, and product selection.
  • Assist with construction administration including working with contractors, site visits, and observations reports.
  • Client Care and Communication
  • Quality control and ownership of work performed.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 or more years experience in lighting and power design, including low voltage system
  • Innovative thinking and a passion for design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Effective people and presentation skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of electrical systems for complex building types
  • Familiar with Building Code and National Electrical Code
  • Knowledge of power, lighting, and safety systems, and building power distribution design
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Solid knowledge in Revit and Engineering software required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related education and industry experience
  • Professional Licensure (PE, DES etc.)
  • Specialty certifications (LEED, WELL, RCDD, etc.)
  • AutoCAD- desired, but not essential
