SRF Consulting Group, Inc., is seeking a self-motivated entry-level Travel Demand Modeler to join our growing Traffic & Technology Group. You will have the option to work in the Minneapolis or Saint Paul, MN office, Madison, WI office, or remotely. You will have opportunities to work with travel demand modeling and forecasting, hybrid modeling, transportation planning, and traffic planning, and data analytics. You will provide technical support to a variety of modeling and analysis of projects at the system, corridor, and project level. Work includes freeway and arterial corridors, transit corridors, pedestrian and bicycle modes or other transportation analysis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting project managers as needed on ongoing projects
  • Applying knowledge of basic concepts and principles of travel demand modeling and transportation planning
  • Preparing model inputs and scripts
  • Conducting technical research and field studies
  • Collecting analyzing, tabulating, and presenting data
  • Using performance measures to evaluate project alternate concepts
  • Interpreting the results of technical analyses and communicating them effectively
  • GIS mapping and spatial analyses
  • Writing reports and memos

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in planning or civil engineering with a strong emphasis in transportation fundamentals
  • 0-3 years of experience in travel demand modeling – related to highway and transit projects as well as traffic simulation projects
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong technical and plain language writing ability
  • Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills
  • Programming language:  R, Python, VBA
  • Data analysis software:  GIS, Power BI, Excel
  • Experience with one or more travel demand modeling software is a plus:  Citilabs CUBE VOYAGER and Avenue, Caliper TransCAD and TransModeler, PTV VISUM, VISSIM, INRO EMME 4 and Dynameq, TSS Aimsun, Quadstone Paramics 6.X, STOPS
