LPR International is seeking a senior level Electrical Engineer to provide support for our client located in Laurel, MD. This person will provide onsite support services for Washington Metro (position in Washington, D.C.). 



  • Developed complete set of design bid documents for metro building facilities. Design drawings including single line diagrams, plan layouts & elevations, lighting, grounding, communication, schedules, etc.  
  • Thorough design knowledge of Electrical equipment’s including AC Switchgear, Switchboard, Motor Control Centers, AVR, ATS, Disconnect Switches, Transformers, Panelboards, Lighting, Load Centers, Motors, VFDs, Communication, etc.  
  • Experienced in specification writing, equipment selection and vendor interface.  
  • Responsible for reviewing engineering calculations such as cable/conduit fill, substation battery sizing, lighting calculations, electrical load calculations provided by electrical consultant.  
  • Responsible to assist Engineering Manager by reviewing product submittals, test reports and response of RFIs per WMATA design criteria and contract documents.  
  • Fully conversant with NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 130, IEEE and ANSI Standards.   
  • Perform field investigations of electrical facilities to ensure compliance with applicable NEC codes, standards, and regulations. Identify code violations and provide engineering recommendations for corrective actions. 
  • Investigate and oversaw construction activities to ensure compliance with contract drawings, contract specifications, codes, standards, and regulations.  
  • Responsible for reviewing arc flash, short circuit, relay coordination, load flow, harmonics, and substation grounding studies.    
  • Perform site systems surveys and engineering assessments for a wide range of facilities, varying from metro stations to data centers. 
  • Contribute to development of solutions for minimal downtime electrical power distribution and lighting systems in conjunction with architectural and engineering project design teams. 
  • Perform scope of work analyses, design and construction document development, and engineering construction support services for building electrical systems including power generation, distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, and telecommunications systems. 
  • Utilize a variety of software to perform electrical load calculations, short circuit studies, selective coordination, arc flash analysis, generator load calculations and lighting calculations. 
  • Attend team and owner design kick-off and review meetings. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Electrical Design. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. 
  • PE registration a plus. 
  • Experience with design and development of power distribution systems for medium and low voltage systems. 
  • Experience in scope of work and specification development. 
  • Extensive knowledge of NFPA 70, 70B, 130 and ANSI/NETA MTS-2015 is REQUIRED. 
  • Extensive experience in electrical engineering designs with AutoCAD proficiency is REQUIRED. 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Flexibility to travel to facilities in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area and surrounding states (day travel). 


  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to work in confined spaces. 
  • Ability to stoop, reach, bend, twist and carry equipment. 
  • Ability to lift up to thirty (30) pounds. 
  • Ability to employ hand dexterity in the use of equipment. 
  • Ability to handle moderate-loud noises typical of an office or industrial setting.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.
