Requirements
  • BS in Electrical / Controls Engineering (or a related engineering field) required
  • Electrical, Controls, or Automation Engineering experience required
  • Electrical documentation experience required (AutoCAD Electrical preferred)
  • Experience with the design of custom electrical systems and cabling preferred
  • Experience with safety / compliance requirements (OSHA, UL, NFPA, CE, IEC) and/or knowledge of domestic / international machinery standards preferred
  • Experience with Beckhoff EtherCAT, PLC’s, and/or remote I/O systems preferred
  • Electrical design experience in the material handling, conveyance, automation, barcode scanning / imaging, and/or robotics industries is a plus
  • Experience with document control and ECO/ECN procedures is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and support multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to own project assignments and support them through on-site integration
  • Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineering and non-technical staff (Project management experience is a plus)
  • Ability to travel to customer sites as necessary (typically less than 15% per year)
 
Responsibilities
  • Design, document, and support the integration of custom electrical control systems and cabling used in our Warehouse Automation product lines
  • Support the business development and project management teams by reviewing pre-sale opportunities to determine unique electrical system requirements
  • Review customer facility drawings and communicate electrical requirements
  • Create and maintain custom equipment wiring / schematic drawings, bills of material, network maps, and additional technical documentation for each project
  • Collaborate with the mechanical engineering team on construction drawings and technical documentation to facilitate the permitting and integration process
  • Interface with design engineers, project managers / coordinators, integrators, electrical contractors, inspectors, and customers during the design, installation, and integration phases of each project
  • Support the installation team with technical documentation, engineering guidance, design modifications, and on-site problem solving as required
  • Ownership of all related Electrical Engineering tasks from start to finish
  • Provide effective status updates to project teams and management
