The role:  
Help us build and improve Oregon’s transportation system! As the project coordinator, you will assist in the administration of construction projects from preliminary planning through the construction phases using field survey and office and design. You will play a key role during plan reviews and coordinating inspection activities to ensure projects are continuing to operate in the most effective manner. Apply today!

A day in the life:
  • Coordinate inspection activities on multiple projects.
  • Monitor contractor’s processes, procedures and progress.
  • Measure and compute quantities for pay items for construction contract bid items.
  • Lean, train, and mentor inspectors, interns and trainees.
  • Provide guidance to the crew on project documentation procedures, policies and requirements.
  • Monitor project safety procedures and methods.
  • Provide front line problem solving and conflict resolution and constructability issues.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with permits.
  • Requires willingness to work irregular hours (weekends, holidays, nights and to travel for job related purposes).
  • Frequent travel required to local and remote construction sites, which may involve extreme hazards of traffic, noise and hazardous terrain.

What we need:
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, surveying or transportation-related engineering and two (2) years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience.
Five (5) years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience. One (1) year of this experience must have been independently planning and completing assignments.
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of highway construction methods and design standards for highway construction.
  • Experience in construction administration with an emphasis in inspection.
  • Working knowledge of mathematics and land surveying.
  • Experience in working with contractors.
