Purpose of Job

The PCB Designer will be responsible for layout of APCON’s next generation of products.

Responsibilities

  • Performs layout of high-speed multilayer PCBs
  • Consults with engineering team members to evaluate operational and performance requirements of overall system
  • Participates in design reviews
  • Generates new part footprints and maintains existing footprint libraries
  • Reviews Gerber/ODB++ files for accuracy
  • Reviews stencil proofs for accuracy
  • Resolves issues from Design Rule Check (DRC) report
  • Generates mechanical drawings and images
  • Works with hardware designers and board houses to generate stackups
  • Prepares manufacturing documentation (BOM, PnP, Gerbers, ODB++, etc.)
  • Works with engineering, operations, and sub-contractors closely to meet design for manufacturability (DFM) requirements
  • Works in both an independent and team environment to meet product delivery goals

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 3+ years' PCB design and layout experience
  • Solid experience using PCB layout tools (Cadence OrCAD and Allegro preferred)
  • Experience with power plane design
  • Experience with stackup selection
  • Experience with impedance control techniques
  • Experience with back-drill and/or HDI PCB techniques

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in 1G/10G/25G/100G Ethernet or other high-speed digital designs
  • Experience with signal integrity considerations for high-speed serial links and power distribution networks
  • Experience with memory routing interfaces such as DDR3 and DDR4

    Education

    • BS degree (BSEE strongly preferred, MSEE a plus) or the equivalent in training and experience

    Travel: May travel up to 10%
