WRECO is an award-winning engineering consulting firm established in 1995 with offices in Walnut Creek, Elk Grove, Los Angeles, Oakland, and San Jose, CA. We provide consulting engineering services in the fields of civil engineering, environmental compliance, geotechnical engineering, and water resources.
 
Our office has an immediate need for a full-time Project/Senior Geotechnical Engineer in our Elk Grove, California office.
 
The successful candidate would be a self-motivated professional who possesses a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience pertaining to field work (soil logging/field mapping), seismic analysis (liquefaction/dynamic settlement/lateral spreading), shallow and deep foundation design, elastic and time dependent settlement analysis, flexible and rigid pavement design, and slope stability analyses. An M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is not required but strongly preferred.
 
This individual will be expected to demonstrate a strong technical knowledge of the principles of soil and rock mechanics. Experience with large design and construction projects and a P.E. or G.E. are required.
 
This Position Requires:
  • Participation in field assignments including: observation of explorations (soil and rock borings, test pits, CPT probes, geophysical testing) and geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; inspection of earth retaining structures, deep foundations (drilled shafts, piles), tunnels and pipe jacking, and shallow foundations.
  • Design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, ground improvement, embankment and cut slopes, and settlement analyses.
  • Performance of earthquake hazard evaluations, including site-specific site response analysis and liquefaction potential analysis.
  • Analysis of laboratory testing results and selection of the soil and rock geotechnical design parameters.
  • Preparation and review of technical reports, data reports, and baseline reports.
  • Sharing of technical knowledge across geographical boundaries to foster innovative project solutions.
  • Possession of an outgoing and positive attitude, and dependable work ethic to meet all assigned project deadlines.
  • Display of strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines. Sense of humor a plus.
     
Basic Qualifications: 
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology.
  • 5+ years of professional experience pertaining to field work (soil logging/field mapping), seismic analysis (liquefaction/dynamic settlement/lateral spreading), shallow and deep foundation design, elastic and time dependent settlement analysis, flexible and rigid pavement design, and slope stability analyses.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences in both written and verbal formats.
  • California P.E. license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • California G.E. license or the ability to obtain one within 1 year of hire.
  • M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology strongly preferred.
