Job Description:

SHINE is seeking Licensed Operator Candidates for its first-of-a-kind nuclear pharmaceutical manufacturing plant located in Janesville, WI. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Pre-Operations/Construction Phase

  • Participate in a training program that, upon successful completion, will result in a nuclear facility senior operator or operator license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
  • Develop operating procedures to support future production facility activities.
  • Develop and implement testing and commissioning procedures for production facility equipment.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Commissioning/Operations Phase
  • Ensure the health and safety of the workers and public, while also maintaining the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
  • Monitor and operate processes and equipment used to produce medical isotopes.
  • Perform equipment tests and record data in logs.
  • Oversee or perform administrative tasks associated with facility activities.
  • Previous research, test, or commercial power Reactor Operator (RO) license, Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or certification; or Navy Nuclear experience as a qualified watchstander (e.g., Engineering Officer of the Watch, Engineering Watch Supervisor, Reactor or Propulsion Plant Operator, or Engineering Lab Technician (ELT)) is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in relevant engineering or related technical or physical science field; or Navy Nuclear experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Dependent on qualifications and experience, candidates may be selected for senior operator (supervisory) positions.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls regulations. Additionally, applicant’s eligibility may be conditioned based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a pre-employment drug test, fingerprinting, and a criminal background check
