TITLE OF POSITION: Production Support Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Engineering Services

REPORTS TO: Engineering Services Manager

Position Summary – The successful candidate will have the primary responsibility to
support the manufacturing activities of 2kVA to 200kVA power conversion & distribution
systems for the Aerospace and Marine markets. Activities include troubleshooting,
design, modifications and updates of existing AC and DC power and frequency converters
and distribution modules along with limited new circuit design with limited guidance. This
position also assists product development and drives process improvement.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Troubleshooting
Troubleshoot technical issues with the product or incoming material
Act quickly to analyze the available data and find the root cause of problems
Review technical data and identify/recommend alternate parts when faced
with obsolescence and/or inability to get parts in a timely fashion
Develop solutions while providing stake holders with progress updates

Product Design & Configuration
Performs electrical and mechanical configuration and design guidance to the Engineering Services Team

Create useful tools such as fixtures, internal software and processes to facilitate efficient and robust assembly

Product Development
Participate in all stages of the product development process, including
designing, building, and testing
Create useful tools such as fixtures, internal software and processes to
facilitate efficient and robust assembly

 Manufacturing Assistance
 Interact with assembly, test and quality personnel to resolve problems,
answer questions and fix errors in design or documentation
Address concerns promptly while maintaining a helpful attitude

 Technical Documentation
 Prepare extensive documentation when logging product issues, note all
details including observations, diagnoses, and action steps
 Create and update schematics, assembly drawings and work instructions as
needed
Assist with questions or concerns in the generation of Technical Manuals

 Process Improvement
 Suggest overall product and process improvements ensuring input is
obtained from affected parties
Proactively evaluate engineering processes and provide recommendations to
increase efficiency

 Required Skills and Experience
 Experience resolving production problems, from quick fixes to major collaborative
efforts across multiple departments
Deep technical understanding in the production and manufacturing of power
conversion & distribution systems
Experience reading, interpreting, creating and modifying electrical schematic
diagrams and mechanical and assembly documentation
Experience structuring and modifying material BOM’s (Bill of Material)
Working knowledge and experience with personal computers using Microsoft Excel,
Word, and AutoCAD
Experience working with Solid Works and Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
Effective communications with production, engineering, marketing and all other
functions in the company, paying attention to their concerns and providing clear,
regular updates for ongoing requests
Acute attention to detail of tasks that include creating extensive documentation,
tracking errors and making changes to product designs
Experience multitasking to handle technical issues from multiple individuals at the
same time, along with other responsibilities such as generating documentation and
participating in manufacturing or development activities

Education
Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology
or

Associates of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology with work experience
