Job Description:

The Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the mechanical design engineering function in the development of advanced power conversion products for the aerospace/defense industry.  Requires demonstrated knowledge and leadership ability in developing complex electronic packaging to meet commercial and military avionics design standards.  Responsible for design of new products from concept through manufacturing release as well as improving product yield and ease of manufacturing for existing designs.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role the responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  1. Lead and provide technical guidance to the mechanical engineering team
  2. Manage daily priorities and task assignments for mechanical engineering team
  3. Manage resources effectively to support development schedules and cost objectives
  4. Ownership of mechanical packaging, thermal analysis, and shock & vibration aspects for all new designs
  5. Lead mechanical engineering quotations in support of new business proposals
  6. Support failure analyses and recommend product improvements for existing designs
  7. Ability to design as individual contributor as required
  8. Develop new and refine existing Engineering processes and procedures
  9. Collaborate with multiple engineering design disciplines to satisfy overall system objectives
  10. Ability to lead development projects of various sizes is preferred
The successful candidate will have a background which includes the following demonstrable experience, skills and education:
  1. B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required; M.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  2. A minimum of 10 years of design experience in electro-mechanical packaging
  3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing engineering teams in the development of complex electro-mechanical systems for the aerospace industry
  4. Electronics packaging design experience in SolidWorks 3D CAD & PDM environment
  5. DO-160/MIL-STD-810/MIL-STD-461/MIL-STD-704 design/test experience
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, reach with arms and hands, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office. The noise level is occasionally high.
