Electro-Mechanical Engineer – Louisville KY

Bartell Morrison, A Bartell Global Company, has an immediate opening for an Electro-Mechanical Engineer at our Louisville, KY facility.

Bartell Morrison is a leading global supplier of construction equipment with a wide variety of products for the concrete construction industry.

The Electro-Mechanical Engineer is a key individual in the organization who will be responsible for shaping and implementation of a strategy to grow the Bartell Morrison brand and market position. The individual will bring a strong fundamental understanding of Electro-Mechanical Engineering and concepts typically learned through years of experience with equipment and production of machines. The individual will possess a strong electrical, mechanical and hydraulic knowledge and will leverage that to design new and improve existing Bartell products.

Major Duties and Expectations:

  • Design:**
  • Customer focused design that are cost effective to manufacture.
  • Develop and maintain a process for evaluating new equipment ensuring it is ready to go to market
  • Develop product design improvements: improvements can and will include, cost improvement, quality improvement, reliably and usability improvements, safety and environmental improvements
  • Manufacturing process improvement including: work station design, fabrication tooling and jig design, work and material flow optimization and plant layout.
  • Review, design when appropriate, manufacturing/assembly equipment required for manufacturing, assembly and testing of the products
  • Utilize the Engineering Change Process to ensure effective and cost-effective implementation of engineering changes
  • Engineering Structures:**
  • Effectively and proactively identify and design cost reducing ideas (supplier, design, assembly related)
  • Ensures B.O.M.’s are accurate, complete and up to date
  • Ensures Product Manual’s and Owners Manual’s are accurate, complete and up to date. Build new Product Manuals as required.
  • Ensures Drawings are accurate, complete and up to date
  • Ensures all Engineering process they involved in are cost effectively done and consistent with continuous improvement practices
  • Quality:**
  • Lead or be a part of the team to provide Root Cause analysis, problem solving and solution implementation for quality issues
  • Interface with the customer to resolve issues as required.
  • Manage customer concerns effectively balancing customer and business needs
  • Lead supplier quality improvement processes as required
  • Market Awareness and Competence:**
  • Stay up to date on our competition and our industry (products, technology, materials and new markets)
  • Have a competent working knowledge of the industry, materials and the equipment

Key Attributes:

  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Must show a consistent ability to achieve the project goals of cost, robust design and timeliness; cooperatively developed and in line with business demands
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of engineering and design principles and be able to implement this knowledge in cost effective, practical and market appropriate ways.
  • Effectively understand manufacturing processes and employment of Lean Manufacturing methods.
  • Must demonstrate a consistent ability to work effectively in a team and or corporate structure.
  • Must be able to be flexible and shift priorities and work hours in order to meet the requirements of the business as the business demands
  • Must be effective at problem solving (problem identification, containment, root cause analysis, problem solution development and implementation)
  • Must have a working knowledge of and an ability to efficiently become proficient with SolidWorks
  • Must be effective in working collaboratively with customers, sales, purchasing, suppliers, manufacturing and finance
  • Must be able to learn to communicate with customers and suppliers in a technically competent and a sales/marketing sensitive manner.

Education and Experience:

  • 5 plus years in depth experience in Electro-Mechanical Engineering. Preference will be given to candidates with hands on experience with floor preparation, scraping, grinding, shot blasting and polishing of concrete.
  • Bachelor’s in Electro-Mechanical Engineering OR Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology OR a combination of experience and education.
  • Highly skilled in SolidWorks or similar CAD program
  • Working knowledge of electric motors and hydraulics, design of machinery and assembly process improvement.
