Job Description:

Summary
Organizes and maintains field survey crew efficiently in completing assigned projects. Accurately collects, calculates and records field data for preparing topographic maps, record of survey maps, boundary surveys, and ALTA’s. Reviews job specifications and plans field work methods and costs.
 
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
Manage and oversee a survey crew and all operations assigned that particular crew, and ensure the accuracy of all work performed by the survey crew.
 
Preparation and verification of mathematical calculations related to surveying and basic engineering; computes distances, bearings traverses and elevations.
 
Conducts project research, securing equipment, using safety techniques, performing the survey operation, handling the equipment, recording data and other associated duties.
 
Knowledge of the operation, checking and basic field adjustments on transits, total stations, data collectors, levels, compass, tribrachs, and tripods.
 
Keep neat and orderly field notes for standard surveying operations: leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, profile and cross-section surveys.
 
Entry of field data and can produce positional information (i.e., leveling, traversing, topographic mapping) with either a hand-held calculator or micro-computer software.
 
Reads and interprets construction plans, topographical maps, and final maps and records or survey.
 
Operates and oversees the operation of survey instruments required to perform surveys including providing the proper care and cleaning of all instruments and equipment.
 
Ensure all survey materials and equipment are clean, charged and in good working condition, and adequately stowed and loaded onto the survey truck each day.
 
Knowledgeable and skilled in the operation of survey equipment including total stations, data collectors, level and GPS equipment.
 
Assist engineers with as-built information, site conditions, and conflicts found with engineering plans as requested.

​Required qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience.

Preferred qualifications:
Associated in Applied Science with 5 years of experience. and Professional Land Surveyor License.
