Description/Job Summary

To design new products and improve existing products in accordance with Pride’s procedures and protocols

Responsibilities/Duties

•Manage complete electronics Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) assembly process from concept through high volume manufacturing

•Prototype, build and test analog/digital design

•Develop, release and revise electrical drawings and schematics

•Ensure designs are safe, effective manufacturable, reliable and meet quality system compliance

•Ensure designs meet Superior Product at Reduced Cost (SPARC) initiatives

•Perform inspections, verification and validation testing

•Meet and fulfill project timelines and budgets

•Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management

•Attend the Annual C-TPAT Security Training

•Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment

•Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations

•Pride retains the discretion to modify duties and/or assign other duties as necessary

Must have the ability to:
•Multi-task, problem-solve, and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment
•Use electrical tools (i.e. multi-meter, oscilloscope, soldering iron and crimp tools), hand tools and standard power tools
•Mentor, lead, and inspire entry-level engineers
•Design electronics at the component level
•Design and build Printed Circuit Boards and/or breadboard, proof of concept prototypes
•Design PCBs with Surface Mount Technology/Surface Mount Device (SMT/SMD)
•Design and build prototypes
•Design DC to DC converters (i.e. Buck, Boost, SEPIC converters) and motor drive design
•Prepare and present summary reports and FMEAs
•Travel domestic and/or international as needed


Must have:
•Relentless drive to achieve advancement and continuous improvement
•Excellent detailed documentation practices
•Basic working knowledge of circuit/circuit board design and Association Connecting Electronics Industries (IPC) standards
•Basic working knowledge of software tools for circuit design and simulation (i.e. PSpice, OrCAD, PADS), PCB editor, LTSpice
•Basic working knowledge with Electromagnetic Compatibility/Electromagnetic Immunity (EMC/EMI) principles and techniques for immunity and suppression of electrical noise
•Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills
 

Preferred Skills

•Familiarity with microprocessors, software development of embedded code, communication interfacing, I2C, CAN bus USB preferred

•Basic knowledge of American National Standards Institute – Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (ANSI-RESNA) standards preferred
•Basic knowledge of UL 60601-1 Medical Electrical Equipment standard preferred

•Basic knowledge in LED lighting design, RF Wireless design and power supply design, AC-DC designs and advanced analog control circuits preferred
•Lift/push/pull 40 lbs preferred

Required Experience

•At least 2 years of experience in design control systems, electronic assemblies or electronic hardware design

Preferred Experience

•At least 5 years of experience in design control systems, electronic assemblies or electronic hardware design preferred

•Current or previous successful employment experience with Pride Mobility Products Corporation preferred

Required Education

•Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology OR a Master’s degree in Science, Physics or Computer Science
