Job Description:

The Senior Superintendent is responsible for one or multiple projects, implements/maintains company policies, responsible for client interfaces, ensures the projects are constructed in accordance with designs, budgets and schedules etc. 
 

This position works closely with the executive team and provides leadership in field operations.


 

Education: Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Building Technology, or Construction Management
 

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with/effectively implement safety & environmental standards
  • Execute work in accordance with the construction schedule, control budget, contract documents, sub-contracts/agreements, plans, specifications and shop drawings including coordination and execution of changes to the work
  • Responsible for temporary worker hiring decisions in conjunction with PM
  • Directly manage and promote productivity of employees on the job site (including trade contractors, suppliers, assistants and hourly employees)
  • Prepare the weekly production schedules
  • Ensure appropriate action is taken in cases where contracts, plans and specifications are inadequate or contravene good building practice in conjunction with PM
  • Review drawings, budget, underlying estimate, trade contractors, scopes of work
  • Coordinate inspections with civic authority/other authorities with jurisdiction for routine and occupancy-related inspections
  • Attend, chair and document regularly scheduled trade meetings; maintain liaison with client and architect contacts to facilitate construction activities
  • Work collaboratively and conduct effective meetings with other departments, project staff, owners, architects, subcontractors, sharing knowledge and experience
  • Foster strong teamwork
     

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of field supervision experience or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • Experience with high rise projects
  • Gold Seal accreditation an asset;
  • Red Seal Carpenter (Journeyman) Certificate a strong asset
