Design Engineer – Image Processing – Lansdale, PA

Position Summary:

The Design Engineer will be responsible for the development of algorithms and the associated software design & development for processing 3D point clouds used within dimensioning systems.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop algorithms and software for use in dimensioning applications
  • Design and code new algorithms to convert 3D point cloud data into object dimensions
  • Identify ways to filter noise from 30 point clouds, determining length width, height, and shape of objects on a conveyor, separating touching objects, and measuring the extents of irregularly shaped objects
  • Assist in the proposal of architectures for next generation 30 scanning instruments, improving execution speed of existing algorithms, troubleshooting customer reported problems, and performing general research in 30 and image processing relating to logistics

Qualifications and Skills

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Physics or Engineering
  • PhD in Computer Science, Physics or Engineer a plus
  • Experience creating complex software/hardware systems
  • Several years of machine vision experience
  • Several years of 3D point-cloud algorithm development experience
  • 2D and 3D image processing algorithm experience El Proficiency in Matlab
  • Advanced proficiency in CIC++ programming
  • Understanding of 00P
