Principal Mechanical Engineer

The ideal candidate will assist with all aspects of Transducer/Mechanical Engineering R&D including:
Engineering design (generation and refinement of parts using SolidWorks) focusing on transducers.
Engineering design of tooling assembly fixtures and jigs critical to array fabrication, including dicing.
Work with suppliers to ensure manufacturability of designs.
Prepare design specifications, analyses and recommendations for presentation and approval.
Lead and/or collaborate with X-functional team members to meet schedule and project demands.
Design or modify injection molded plastic housings to ensure cost and schedule criteria are met.
DF(x): Including 6-sigma, manufacturing, test and compliance.
Participate in Root Cause, Sustaining and CAPA engineering activities.
New vendor selection and qualification for materials and processes.
Optimize for manufacturing; transfer tooling and tooling processes to manufacturing personnel.
Create and update document sets including BOM's, specifications drawings and reports, Agile releases.

Principal Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities
Lead Transducer team in the scoping and execution of technical projects involving the design, fabrication and evaluation of mechanical tooling, jigs and fixtures vital to building world class transducers.
Lead Transducer team in the scoping and execution of technical projects involving the design, fabrication and evaluation of transducer packaging involving internal thermal and electrical considerations, as well as external form factors that meet ergonomic clinical requirements. Some flex circuit support expected (physical constraints).
Timely releases of tooling and BOM packages into Agile to facilitate pre-prod. and production release
Responsible and accountable for carrying out the requirements of the company's quality system.
Interact with members of the Ultrasound Systems engineering or other associated groups as necessary for transducer related issues.

Principal Mechanical Engineer Qualifications
B.S. ME degree w/minimum 10 years relevant experience.
M.S. ME degree w/minimum 8 years relevant experience.
PhD. ME degree w/minimum 5 years relevant experience.
Expert level skills with SolidWorks including surfacing tools.
Background or experience with acoustic transducers, optoelectronic devices, and/or medical ultrasound devices/physics is strongly desired.
Experience in thermal management of compact, highly integrated devices is strongly desired.
Semiconductor processes, Sputtering, Plasma etching, CVD, dicing saw experience a plus.
Proven track record in automating lower volume, hand oriented processes highly desired. Extensive experience in product development from conception to release.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to prepare analyses, recommendations and technical reports.
ISO, FDA or other regulated industry training and/or experience.
