Job Description:

Education: Post secondary in Construction Management or related field and or equivalent experience
• Lead the planning and implementation of assigned projects
• Provides clear direction to team members and distributes workload to capitalize on individual and group strengths while ensuring balanced exposure to work experience and development opportunities
• Responsible for the overall project performance including schedule, budget, quality and safety
• Review the project plans & specifications & comment on the building design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems
• Maintain excellent relationships with municipalities, clients, architect, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project team
• Prepare and obtain Building Permits • Prepare and issue the project tender packages
• Review quotations and provide bid analysis and recommendations for approval
• Award the subcontracts & supplier contracts & provide subcontracts & purchase orders for execution
• Develop a schedule for project completion
• Provide timely and effective project reporting including monthly project status reports, cost forecasting, cash flows, schedule updates, safety and quality updates and issues
• Mentors, coaches, supervise and assesses performance of direct reports
• Provides strong leadership to construction team members
• Initiate and control a request for information process for all project issues and inquiries
• Organize, oversee & provide minutes for ALL applicable meetings required for the projects
• Responsible to obtain project specific insurance & to confirm the required subcontractor insurance is in place and up to date
• Expedite all shop drawings and approvals
• Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured
• Understand and enforce contractual responsibilities, contract documents and provide dispute resolution
• Handle all change orders
• Prepare/verify and monitor progress billings from subcontractors and suppliers
• Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary
• Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis
• Monitor site safety and ensure that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Company Health and Safety policies are enforced on site
• Ensure that as-build drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades
• Ensure all required municipal inspections are performed and obtain the required occupancy permits
• Review and confirm work required is complete and recover all project Letter of Credits
• Oversee project closeout and evaluate the outcomes of the project as established
• Prepare and expedite project deficiency lists and deliver completed projects over to the service & warranty group

• 8+ years experience in the construction field, preferably with industrial projects
• Experience with large complex projects up to $150 million in size
• Demonstrate ability to effectively manage, timelines and budgets
• Previous experience in developing detailed project plans
• A track record of building successful teams, effectively motivating people and maintaining effective relationships with clients, owners and consultants
• Strong contraction negotiation and management skills
• Strong planning and execution skills
• Superior analytical, problem solving and judgment skills
• Ability to effectively communicate ideas and actions
• Experience with process redesign, process mapping and documentation
• Thrive in a fast paced, challenging and constantly changing work environment
• Strong technical skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); MS Project, Scheduling software
• Engineering degree or tech diploma is an asset
