JLR is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Civil / Environmental Technologist in our Sudbury office.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Participating in preliminary and final design of municipal and mining/industrial projects, including water and wastewater treatment and conveyance systems, watermains, sanitary and storm sewer systems;

- Assisting with completion of Class Environmental Assessments and other studies for municipal infrastructure;

- Carrying out visits to construction sites and work sites and reporting on observations;

- Assisting Civil and Environmental Engineers with project execution;

- Participating in the preparation of proposals, reports, specifications, and budget estimates;

- Coordinating with architectural and other engineering disciplines on multidisciplinary projects;

- Communicating with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders; and

- Travelling between JLR offices for training purposes and to meet the needs of various projects.

Skills and Qualifications:

-  Civil or Environmental Technology Diploma from a recognized post-secondary school;

- OACETT designation or eligibility for designation as a C.E.T.;

- Proficiency in the current versions of AutoCAD and Civil 3D;

- Proficiency in the current version of Microstation would be considered an asset;

- Minimum 2 years of directly relevant design experience and related experience in construction and inspection activities;

- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Project) would be considered an asset;

- Comprehensive knowledge of standard engineering and construction principles, practices and techniques;

- Knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS) and Ontario Provincial Standard Drawings (OPSD);

- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and interpersonal;

- Strong organizational, administrative, observational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail;

- Ability to produce quality deliverables and to monitor project tasks;

- Driven self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment;

- Willingness to travel for project assignments and training opportunities as required; and

- Valid driver’s license.
