Murata Machinery USA, Inc.’s Machine Tool Division currently has an opening for a Field Service Engineer in Philadelphia, PA.
Install and service Murata Machine Tools products.  Assist sales personnel and train customer personnel.  Cross-train on both Metal Forming and Metal Cutting products as assigned for best overall Customer Service.
Install Murata Machine Tools products:

  • Install and demonstrate new machines in customer plants, including electrical or mechanical check-outs, set up, tooling, operation and programming.
  • Prepare and submit demonstration reports accurately and promptly.
Service Murata Machine Tools products:  
  • Perform basic electrical/electronic, or mechanical, or hydraulic problem diagnosis and repair in customer's plants during warranty period.
  • Cross-train on mechanical, electrical & electronic maintenance.
  • Advise and assist customers with most operations and programming problems during warranty period.
  • Perform most maintenance work and provide basic assistance needed by customer following warranty period.
  • Advise and assist in selection and ordering of tools and repair parts.
  • Prepare and submit weekly service time and expense reports accurately and promptly.
Upgrade personal capability and train customer personnel:  
  • Assist other Field Service Engineers with various assignments to receive necessary on-the-job training.
  • Attend schools, seminars, and conferences to keep up with updates 
  • Train customer personnel in processing, tooling, operating, and servicing of Murata Machine Tools products.
Assist Sales Personnel:
  • Recommend machine tools and accessory equipment to potential buyers
  • Report sales opportunities and maintain favorable customer relationships.
  • Assist and advise in matters involving machine application, tooling and estimates.

Requirements: Associate’s degree in related field or other engineering discipline preferred. Technical School or Military Certification is acceptable. Minimum of 1-4 years of machine tools maintenance or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and laser systems. Knowledge of electrical diagnostic instruments and shop/hand tools. Ability to read mechanical/electrical schematics and blueprints and diagnose/troubleshoot electromechanical devices. Knowledge of CNC equipment (FANUC is a plus). Desire to understand customer needs. Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player.  Requires up to 80% travel (domestic and international).
