MFL GROUP is experiencing strong sales growth in North America and we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Field Service Engineer to join the MFL USA team. The successful applicant will provide a high level of technical support to external customers while working under minimal supervision. The nature of this position is Start-up and After Sales Service of Machinery.

As a Field Service Engineer’s key job responsibilities: 
  • A strong work ethic as well as a strong mechanical aptitude, welding knowledge, the ability to communicate and correspond with others.
    • Heavy travel is required for the onsite installation, and commissioning.
    • Able to speak, read and understand English.
    • Ability to deal with uncertainty, flexibility in responsibilities, and the ability to work. independently and collaboratively while managing multiple tasks is required.
    • Ability to read mechanical diagrams.
    • Ability to read electrical schematics.
    • Experience with hydraulic and Pneumatic systems
    • Required to use and operate a wide variety of tools, i.e., hand tools, cutting tools, precision measuring instruments, and other tools common to the trade.
  • Complete jobs and assignments with minimal direction and manage work orders.
    • Ensure optimal area efficiency with proactive preparation, properly perform all assigned tasks, and maintain an efficient work pace.
    • Maintain a safe workplace by assisting in developing, promoting, and following practices which prevent injury and meet legal safety requirements by following all safety protocols and performing routine housekeeping and workplace organization while adhering to company policies, quality policies and industry standards.
    • Work with maintenance, materials, engineering, and others to ensure success of takt attainment by assisting in or coordinating problem solving activities.
    • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Effectively write detailed commissioning reports.
    • Communicate daily with advance techs, Area Manager and Service Manager
    • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
    • Customer demands may require additional hours of work.
    • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Field Service Engineer’s Required Skills and Qualifications: 
  • Installation, start up, and commissioning of equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
    • Perform machine alignment, start-up, work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments.
    • Detect minor problems by performing basic to complex diagnostic tests.
    • Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of production machinery and equipment, or replace broken or malfunctioning components.
    • Diagnose and repair a wide variety of equipment and systems that involve electrical systems and components, plumbing, hydraulics, and compressed air systems.
    • Examine machines to diagnose trouble, dismantle machines, replace defective parts, reassemble machines, and make necessary adjustments.
    • Adjust and calibrate equipment and machinery to optimal specifications.
  • Support Engineering trial runs with respect to fixturing parts and assemblies, producing, and reworking parts, debugging parts and assemblies.
    • Assisting in meeting and exceeding machine start-up scheduled goals and machine uptime.
    • Run customer acceptance tests under simulated operating conditions for purposes of contract fulfillment and report back to Engineering improvements such as development, standardization, or feasibility of design.
    • Assist with suggested preventive maintenance of equipment.
    • Evaluates and assesses equipment problems by troubleshooting and completing repairs in a timely manner.
    • Produce product by operating all equipment in the department. Set up, adjust, and troubleshoot equipment, including automated operations, controls, and sensors.
    • Assists in operator training. 
Field Service Engineer’s Education and Experience:  
  • Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BS preferred)
  • 2 years’ experience in Machinery start-up/trouble shooting
  • Experience with hydraulic and Pneumatic systems
