Johnny’s is renowned for our exceptional customer service offering seeds, tools, supplies and information to direct-market growers and avid home gardeners. We source, breed, trial, and sell outstanding selected varieties of vegetables, cut flowers, herbs, and farm seed, as well as thoughtfully designed tools and equipment. Operations Systems and Process Engineer
Position Summary The Operations System and Process Engineer will be responsible for identifying and implementing supply chain process improvements utilizing the knowledge of internal operations and external best practices.  This person will be a key contributor on cross-functional teams and lead projects involving implementations that directly support WMS, OMS, and MRP systems.  This position develops and implements new processes by:
  • Collaborating with team members to create solutions and deploying technologies consisting of software and hardware combinations to increase operational efficiency and stability.
  • Conducting workload analysis enabling departments to improve the customer experience utilizing effective and efficient use of resources.
Responsibilities
  • Establish methods maximizing the utilization of facilities and personnel
  • Leading operational projects using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
  • Integrating technology solutions & automation to improve the flow of material and information between departments
  • Ensures compatibility and the efficient flow of data between OMS and WMS systems
  • Integrates MRP requirements that can work in unison with WMS applications
  • Collaborates with varying internal departments to design/implement process improvements resulting in fewer touches, less rework, reduced error rates, and total cost savings
  • Defines, measures and analyzes operational trends, defects, and opportunities to reduce expenses or improve SLA’s & KPI’s
  • Communicates and conducts meetings with parties directly/indirectly involved with new software/hardware changes involving a project or process improvement
  • Administers ongoing support for troubleshooting any escalated product/service outages
  • Develops and maintains detailed documentation for project/process implementations
  • Provides input with the development of team goals, objectives, and initiatives
  • Provides support to supervisors in resolving customer complaints through process improvements and root cause analysis
  • Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies
  • Support other technical projects as business needs change
Education
  • Bachelor’s – Engineering, Supply Chain, or similar equivalent degree
  • Project management
  • Process improvement/engineering
Qualifications & Skills
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, decision making and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Software proficiency with data transfer and system applications
  • Cross functional teamwork in a technical environment
  • Familiarity with & ability to apply process engineering methodologies and tools
  • Expert at MS Excel, MS Access and data analysis tools
  • Creating current state and future state process maps with tools such as Visio
  • Strong understanding of the components that make up MRP and WMS systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with all those involved
  • Friendly team-oriented approach to accomplish goals
  • Demonstrated ability to train/educate users with newly implemented software applications
  • Communicating technical information to various audiences in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to visualize alternative processes and think conceptually
  • Self-directed with a high level of initiative & integrity
Physical Requirements
  • Standing/walking throughout the production floor and demonstrating process changes
  • Sitting at workstation greater than 60% of the time
  • Attending various local company worksites to perform tasks
