Premier Dental Manufacturer in Suffolk County, Long Island is seeking a Mechanical Medical Device Design Engineer in our Research and Development Department.

 Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

 

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product design, preferably mechanical.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D modeling packages such as Solid Works or equivalent.
  • Experience with manufacturing materials (sheet-metal, plastics, molded and machined parts).
  • Generate reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Planning, organizational, analytical, communication & networking skills.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Management of multiple complex tasks with excellent attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, honest & thorough.
  • Really hands on.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Product design and development of electronic and electro-mechanical devices. 
  • Design and prototype products with full time machinist in our in-house machine shop.
  • Design/develop enclosures, components and electro-mechanical systems using plastic molded and machined parts.
  • Investigate new  technologies and/or approaches, and advise management regarding feasibility and  technical risk.
  • Investigate/correct issues of fit, quality, materials, etc., of existing/new products.
  • Assist with patent related processes and the analysis of intellectual property.
  • Provide technical interface to Engineering Management and Manufacturing.
  • Manage external vendors as required for tooling, pre-production runs, etc.
  • Create applicable documentation including specifications, assembly drawings, etc.

Following experience a plus:                                                                                                         

  • Fluent in 60601, CE and MDD regulations.
  • Proficient in Solid Works.

 

Salary:

  • Commensurate with experience.
