While not really for “dummies,” this book is best suited to those who are just beginning to explore additive manufacturing for industrial, rather than hobby-type projects.

Hanson covers the early history of 3D printing/additive manufacturing, as well as the current state of this fast-moving industry. He covers individual additive technologies, which can help you choose the best one for your project.

Two chapters are devoted to materials, both plastics and metals. Another chapter goes into tips to help you maximize your design for additive or traditional manufacturing.

Overall, this is a very good resource for those looking to jump into the use of additive manufacturing.
