IMSI Design releases DesignCAD 2025

DesignCAD 2025 improves redraw performance, minimizing delays when zooming, panning, or making detailed edits.

IMSI Design has released DesignCAD 2025, an updated version of its CAD software with improvements to processing speed, compatibility, and precision tools. The update includes over 50 changes aimed at enhancing drafting, modeling, and design workflows.

Performance, stability and usability

DesignCAD 2025 offers improved redraw speeds to help reduce delays during zooming, panning, and complex edits. The Draw Polyline tool now responds more smoothly, and stability updates address crashes, freezing, and enhance PDF imports, layer management, and block editing.

The new DesignCAD Updater automatically checks for updates upon startup, ensuring users always have the latest improvements. A manual Check for Updates button allows for flexible software management.

Expanded compatibility and file interoperability

  • ODA version 25.7 support: Broader compatibility with AutoCAD files (R12–2025), refined APIs, and improved industry-standard file handling.
  • SketchUp 2024 integration: Users can import, edit, and export SketchUp 2024 files with improved geometry handling, texture mapping, and scaling options.

Innovative tools for precision design

  • Points on Path Tool: Enables precise placement of points along curves, splines, arcs, polygons, and circles, with options for uniform spacing or custom distribution.
  • Basic Shapes: Newly introduced parametric basic shape geometries expand DesignCAD’s drawing and modeling capabilities, providing more versatility in drafting and structured design work.
